These are two key factors most athletes are aware of, especially in hot and humid weather! BUT….did you know that hydration has a HUGE impact on mental health?!?
Staying hydrated has been found to help:
đź’§ Lower risk of depression
đź’§ Lower risk of anxiety
đź’§ Improve overall mood
đź’§ Enhance mental clarity
đź’§ Reduce fatigue
The best way to develop your hydration strategy is to plan in advance, instead of waiting for feeling like you’re thirsty.
Some ideas:
đź’¦Prep bottles of water the night before so you can grab and go in the morning
đź’¦Be aware of how much water you need on a daily basis and much more as an athlete
đź’¦Understand your body signals when you begin to feel dehydrated
