Facing Obstacles

Facing obstacles are a natural part of the process. For many, this can lead into being afraid to fail.

Fear of failure is paralyzing. This fear takes over the mental ability to focus, prepare and stay in control.

Many experience this fear on different levels. Some say that they’re in their own way; others might develop extreme anxiety and worry; and a few might even begin to contemplate their “why” for taking part in the sport/activity.

The truth is fears always exist, as do failures. The way we choose to view our “failures” is where we can truly learn to grow and use the fear as a learning opportunity and advantage in our training.

So, how do you get to the point where you can see failure as a positive in your training?

🗣️Take time for self-reflection

🗣️Listen to your self-talk

🗣️Recognize when you notice your response is negative

🗣️ Develop a strategy to overcome the obstacle
